Haunted Tombstone
We were told that the owners believed the house was haunted by the ghost of a man who had died tragically. The owners and a multitude of guests have seen this unidentified person walking inside the home. He also has been seen on the street in front of the old adobe house. Another common occurrence is that the doorbell rings in the middle of the night, apparently all by itself.
Sleeping with Ghosts!
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Buford House was designed and built in 1880 by George Buford, a mine owner and mining engineer originally from East Texas, one year before the famous Gunfight at the OK Corral occurred. Buford built the two-story adobe house during the height of the Tombstone silver mining bonanza and brought a little bit of European flavor and class to the wild town with his home, even installing two sunken, tiled concrete bathtubs on the ground floor. Today, the Garden Room features one of the old sunken tubs.
Haunted Houses
George continues to appear, both inside and outside. Knocking is heard in the walls, faucets and lights go on and off by themselves, and mysterious lights flit across the walls of the Wicker Room. Women seem to be particular favorites of George, and many female guests have felt an unseen hand stroke their hair or their necks

in the early 2000’s ghost investigating was becoming very popular with many people. Before all the ghost hunting show on television we joined with the Ghost Trackers to see what it was all about. This was our first adventure doing an investigation of the supernatural.

The Buford House is a two story, 1880 adobe that has been nicely preserved. It once was a bed and breakfast and may be again very soon. It has the common rooms on the first floor, and the bedrooms on the second.
The spirit of a possessive grandma also resides here.

Buford House
Several years ago, a driver for one of the ghost tours reported that his young daughter spent the night with a friend in the Buford house. She said that she saw colored lights flashing across the walls of her room like an automobile was driving by on the street outside. Since she was on the side of the house away from the street, those lights were a mystery. She also reported feeling very calm and peaceful while in the presence of those lights, not frightened as someone may think.

Like others who died tragic deaths, George continues to walk the earth, apparently lost in space and time. Both the owners and guests have seen him walking inside the home and along the street in front of the old adobe structure. Often, the doorbell rings in the middle of the night, seemingly, of its own accord. Others have reported hearing knocking on walls, faucets turning themselves on and off, and strange lights appearing. Once in a while, women report that they have felt someone touch their hair or stroke the back of their necks when no one is around.
BUFORD’S CHILDREN
Buford’s current owner, Catherine Farrell, claimed that she heard plenty of noises, most of which were shrill voices. She admitted that one night, a cold hand touched her leg. This horrifying occurrence convinced her not to turn the lights off every night.
